Five young people baptized June 14 are presented to the church of Christ in Bayamon, Puerto Rico.

Sunday, June 15, 2014. Church of Christ, Bayamon, Puerto Rico.
Five young people baptized June 14 are presented to the congregation.

From the left, José Juan Álamo provides information on the youth activity resulting in the baptism of these five and seven more from other congregations. Behind him is his son Gabriel Álamo. Then, Giovanni Pérez, Andrea Santiago, Karina Ramos and Fabián Santiago. On the right, Bro. Luis Sardina, one of six men who guide the congregation, lead in prayer for these new members of the church. Dewayne Shappley is in the pulpit.

Five young people of the Bayamon church baptized and seven more who attend other congregations

Five of our young people of the Bayamon congregation were baptized Saturday, June 14, in an island-wide activity for youth held on camp grounds, belonging in general to the church in Puerto Rico. They are: Giovanni Pérez, Fabián Santiago, Andrea Santiago, Gabriel Álamo and Karina Ramos. Sixty-plus youth attended. A total of ten were baptized at the activity and two more were baptized that weekend in their respective congregations. Counting adults who supervised and participated in the activity, including several from Bayamon, total attendance was 93 for the 13th and 14th of June, over-night, event. Bro. José Juan Álamo, father of Gabriel, and an active member, indeed one of the preachers and teachers of the Bayamon church, did the baptizing. These new members were presented to the Bayamon congregation Sunday morning, June 15. We congratulated not only these young people for their wise decision, but also their parents for bringing them to this decisive moment in their spiritual journeys.  Congratulations are also in order for those who organized and carried out the event, as well as for the teachers of the congregation, including Rita, who taught them during their earlier years. Attendance that Sunday morning of June 15 was about 115.

Bro. Jesús Germán, of the Gurabo, Puerto Rico church, took the lead in organizing the activity and preached on the camp grounds that Saturday, July 14. We invited Jesús to preach in Bayamón, Sunday, June 1. His message was way above the norm. This brother, 33 years old and employed by a tech company providing protection for Internet sites, has an outstanding command of Spanish, his native language, and is gifted with a really fluid delivery. Brought here from the Dominican Republic by the company which employs him, I have known Jesús for at least three years. We have spent much time together in Bible studies and fellowship at the School of Advanced Bible Studies in San Juan, and I find him faithful to the doctrine of Christ.

Of course, we are aware of some of the dynamics in play at youth meetings of the kind held, where the decision or action of one or two young people present may result in others following them, perhaps with only a shallow idea of what they are doing. This is not said to detract in any way whatsoever from the activity or its fruits. As noted that Sunday, the challenge now is to help those young people solidify their faith, and not fall away before they are twenty years old! By the way, Jesús Germán has been a faithful Christian since he was fourteen. It is also of interest that three of the five baptized are from religiously divided homes, two fathers being practicing Catholics, while the mothers are members of the Bayamon church.

Wednesday night series completed

From January through June, I developed and taught the subject “Past and Present Events which Motivate Me to Walk a Straight Line in the Present,” for the adult Wednesday night class of the Bayamon church. Young people attending Wednesday nights were also present for almost all the series. Two hundred, twenty-one slides, prepared in PowerPoint, were used to present the six main subjects. These are now available at www.editoriallapaz.org/Eventos-pasados-futuros-Lista.html via fourteen carousels of the images. Clicking on anyone of the images in the rotating carousels opens the corresponding PDF file of downloadable, high definition images. Following instructions included with each carousel, one may also save the images in such a way as to create his own Presentation in PowerPoint. I very much enjoyed preparing and teaching this series, which generated no small amount of class participation and favorable comments.

E-mails and Notes reveal much about the material on our sites and positive reactions to it.

In order of date

-Location not identified. June 05, 2014. “Hello. First of all, God bless you, and then to congratulate you on the work you are doing with your Web Page, providing material of much blessing to evangelize, and thus we can reach more souls. I also prepare images independently, and I think yours are stupendous. I would like to share the Web Page of the church where I present images, and will also use your beautiful ones. Thanks, and may God always bless you.” Juan Carlos  Referer: "http://www.editoriallapaz.org/himnos_Alabad_al_gran_Rey.htm"

-This e-mail was sent from the page for the hymn “Praise to the Great King,” one of more than 100 with texts and graphics in PowerPoint.

-Orellana, Joya de los Sachas, Ecuador. June 07, 2014. “Good afternoon. I would like to receive some information. I attended a Baptist church, but do not feel in agreement with their doctrine, since they practice part of the Old Testament and part of the New. I would like for someone in Ecuador to contact me. From what I have read on your Web Page, I would like to attend to learn more of New Testament doctrine. Thanks.” Carlos

-Location not identified. June 12, 2014. “Hello. I must tell you I am a pastor. I enjoy the great privilege of serving the King. I like very much the dynamic of exchanges and many of the teachings on your Web Page.”Osvaldo Rebolleda  Referer: "http://www.editoriallapaz.org/prosperidad-falsos-profetas-falsas-ensenanzas-Medina-1.html"

-Osvaldo then makes several observations about taking care with regard to judging others, especially naming those we might consider false teachers, prophets or apostles. His e-mail was sent from the Page of an excellent, four part study on the “False Prophets –False Teachings” of the prosperity gospel movement, written by Wuiston Medina, of Venezuela. Of course, anyone who has carefully read the writings of the apostle Paul knows he identified by name some false teachers of his time. I am not averse to doing the same with regard to some today who are patently preaching gospels so contrary to the true one. But, at the same time, I take special pains to be respectful toward all, avoiding personal attacks, offensive language, etc.

-Location not identified. June 14, 2014. “Many blessings, brethren, for this Web Page you have. I would like to know how much the material on the Lord’s Supper and Revelation cost.” Jesús Márquez

-The book on the Lord’s Supper is about 160 letter-size pages and the commentary on Revelation is 1,088 letter-size pages. At this time, we are not printing these two works.

-Location not identified. June 14, 2014. “Greetings, esteemed brethren. My desire is to purchase the book on Apocalipsis. How much does it cost?” Richard Blanco Bazan Referer: "http://www.editoriallapaz.org/salon_apocalipsis.htm"

-Richard made this request from the Page containing a complete outline of all texts and graphics making up the commentary on Revelation. In its present stage, the work has 1,088 letter-size pages, not including over 100 pages of images to be projected digitally or used for personal study. As of this writing, we do not have a single copy to sell. The cost in time and money to print it is not small, and shipping is another expense.

-San Pedro Sula, Cortes, Honduras. June 18, 2014. “The articles are very interesting and educational, especially because they are true to the Bible.” Sonia Isabel Mendoza Canales  Referer: "http://www.editoriallapaz.org/daniel_cuatro_bestias.htm"

-Sonia sent this e-mail from the Page with information on Daniel and the four beasts he saw, as recounted in Daniel 7.

-Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, México. June 18, 2014. “Your commentaries are very interesting to me and have good, biblical argumentation.” Ángel de Jesús Rodríguez Referer: "http://www.editoriallapaz.org/Webb%20nuevo%20-Nuevas%20adiciones.htm"

-Ángel sent this evaluation when he was on the Page listing New Additions to the Web site.

-Location not identified. June 18, 2014. “Very good. I would like to copy the images for my Bible class projects. I would be thankful if you can help me. How can I copy them? Thanks.” M. Torres Referer: "http://www.editoriallapaz.org/apocalipsis_5_2_guerraenlecielo.htm"

-Reference is to images on the Page of “War in Heaven,” Part 2 of Chapter Five of the commentary on Revelation. Chapter 12 of the book of Revelation is where the vision of “War in Heaven” is revealed. All one needs to do to copy any image is right click on it, but still a lot of people are not even that computer literate, and I am sympathetic to those who are not, especially the older ones!

-Location not identified. June 19, 2014. “The Word should always be preached in all its purity. I appreciate the subject on ‘Nourished with the Words of Faith.’ The fear of those who preach is to make the church feel uneasy or tired of what they say, but we should know that God is the one we should please…”Moisés García   Referer: "http://www.editoriallapaz.org/mensaje_nutrido.htm"

-Moisés has reference to one of more than ninety sermons we have on editoriallapaz, almost all of complete text.

-Trujillo, La Libertad, Perú. June 19, 2014. “I like your Web Page for you present very interesting subjects, and it is very good to continue learning such subjects.” Daniel Simón García   Referer: "http://www.editoriallapaz.org/Opiniones.htm"

-Daniel sent these comments from the Page “Sound doctrine, human opinions, divine inferences, necessary inferences, unfounded inferences,” one of seven, rather in-depth treatises that make up the series on “The Unity of the Church.”

-San Luis Potosí, S. L. P., México. June 19, 2014. “First, I thank God for having such servants as you who work tirelessly on this Web Page so rich with excellent material, and which has helped me very much to evangelize, enriching my poor knowledge of the Bible. May God bless you. I also desire to be included in the directory of churches of Christ.” Jesús Najera Guzmán

-Jesús sent data on the church where he ministers, and we entered it in the Directory for Mexico. I would emphasize his observation that material on the site has helped him “very much to evangelize.” Whatever might be the fruits of his evangelization, be they few or many, the material beneficial to him has contributed in some measure to them.
