Joyce Quinn obeys the gospel after studying materials on our Internet site www.editoriallapaz.org.
Joyce is the second lady from the left. She is married and has one child. Joyce was baptized on, or about, December 20, 2013, in the Park Gardens church of Christ, Río Piedras, Puerto Rico. I did not learn of her conversion until Jan. 20, 2014, when she attended the second Monday night of classes of the School of Advanced Bible Studies in Park Gardens. When I was introduced to her, she began to explain that she had been studying subjects on the site. Convinced that they were true to the Bible, she also found information in the Directory on the site for churches in Puerto Rico, visited the one in Park Gardens and fulfilled the conditions for salvation. Joyce is from Barquisimeto, Colombia. She had been reading studies on the site before coming to Puerto Rico. I do not know why she and her family are here, but understand they are to return to Colombia in six months. There is at least one congregation in Barquisimeto.
To the left of Joyce is Amarilis Guzmán, member of the Park Gardens church. We have known Amarilis since she was a child. Now retired from teaching, she has always been a faithful Christian since the time she was baptized as a young girl. Her mother, Gloria Guzmán, has been equally faithful, and her father, Luis Guzmán, became a Christian several years before he passed away. Amarilis’ husband, Jaime Viruet, is also a member of the church. I performed this couple’s wedding ceremony in the Botanical Gardens of San Juan, now some long years ago.
To the right of Joyce are Osvaldo and Leticia Santiago, pillars of the Park Gardens congregation. Leticia is the daughter of Sergio Rodríguez, who died in the Lord a few years ago at the age of ninety-two or three, if I remember correctly. Tall and with distinctly Indian features, Sergio was a really outstanding Christian man, stable and true to the end of his days. Though still working at a secular job, Leticia has received the Four Year Certificate from the School of Advanced Bible Studies, and continues attending classes. Osvaldo, now retired from a career in banking, has the Six Year Certificate, and regularly attends the classes for Post Graduates. He has done a little teaching in the School.
Bayamón, Puerto Rico church of Christ. During the month of December, I began a series of studies on Wednesday nights, for combined classes of adults and youth, the title of which is “Events of the Past and Future that Motivate Me to Walk a Straight Line in the Present.” Rather long title, but serves to establish the desired focus, I think. The first “Event” was the great Flood, of Genesis 6-8, with emphasis on the danger of being “knowingly ignorant” of it, as stated in 2 Peter 2. The "Future Event" counterpart of that Flood Event is the destruction by fire of the present earth. As of this writing (Jan. 30, 2014), I have completed five PowerPoint presentations for the Flood Event, with a total of 67 slides. At the heart of this study are four ancient Sumerian-Mesopotamian documents which speak of the great Flood. The slides include pictures of the ancient clay tablets or stones on which they were written, translations to Spanish of the texts and many related graphics, plus analysis of data, etc. These Presentations are now available on the Internet at www.editoriallapaz.org/diluvio-lista.html. A rotating carrousel of each group shows the slides in 400 x 300 pixels, and clicking on any one of them will open the PDF file of high resolution images. For anyone not knowing how to use the PDF images to make his own PowerPoint presentation the step by step procedure is included after each carrousel.

-Place not identified. Dec. 01, 2013. “Congratulations, brethren. This is one of the best Web sites I have visited from the time I began to search for Jesus. That subject of tithes is 100% clear. Thanks from my heart for your help. May God bless you.” Junior Duverge
-Barinas, Venezuela. Dec. 02, 2013. “Greetings. God bless you. I think this Web Page is excellent. I would like to know if you offer video conferences, or others.” Christian Romero
-Place not identified. Dec. 03, 2013. “Excellent information. May the Lord continue to bless you.” Katerine.
Referer: "http://www.editoriallapaz.org/tabernaculo_terrenal_espiritual.htm"
-The Referer tells us Katerine wrote from the Page of the study “The Earthly Tabernacle versus the Spiritual Tabernacle.” This is a rather exhaustive analysis written by Juan Colón, baptized in Bayamón, and a member of the Bayamón church for a number of years. He prepared the treatise when he was also doing some teaching in the School of Advanced Bible Studies. Juan moved to the States many years ago.
-Santiago, Chile. Dec. 04, 2013. “Beloved in the Lord, it is my fervent desire that you may be blessed in the Lord. Many thanks for making available to us these interesting studies. For the present, I am studying Revelation with you, and I am hoping, God willing, to continue growing in the wisdom of Jehovah and his beloved son Jesus Christ, as well as in the Holy Spirit. I send you a brotherly greeting from Santiago, Chile. Blessings.” Luis Ramírez Aros
-El Tigre, Anzoategui, Venezuela. Dec. 05, 2013. “My good brother, may God continue blessing you. May the Holy Spirit light your way and may you be able, through your messages, to reach many people who are in error.”Pedro Gerardo González. Referer: "http://www.editoriallapaz.org/simon-mago-salvo-o-no-salvo.html"
-The Referer shows Pedro sent his e-mail from the Page with the study “Simon, the Magician of Samaria: Was He Saved, or Did He Just Pretend to Believe?”
-Tuxtla Chico, Chiapas, México. Dec. 07, 2013. “Brother Homero, thanks for accepting my application to receive updates. As a teacher of Christian development, it is a privilege to serve in this way the church of Christ. For that reason, I feel obligated to prepare myself better each day. I have seen your materials, and congratulate you for the arduous labor you carry on, together with your work team. God bless you, my beloved brethren.” Agustín Roblero Cisneros Referer: "http://www.editoriallapaz.org/rapto_origen.htm"
-The Referer points to a study on the origin of the rapture doctrine. Our “work team”? That would be, in addition to myself, Antonio, on the technical end, and his important site of hymns in Spanish www.alabanzas.info. Our sites are complementary since he offers the voice recordings and we offer more than 100 hymns in PowerPoint with beautiful backgrounds, graphics and texts. Of course, the “work team” includes those who, through their contributions, make possible our living here and being able to carry on these tasks in God’s Kingdom.
-Place not identified. Dec. 07, 2013. From Breyk Méndez, history teacher and atheist. “I want to tell you that you are the first religious person to whom I dare to respond with much friendliness, and who is not always sarcastic with others, for often I do not even have enough time to respond to the e-mails coming to me daily. But, really, it pleases me to speak with someone, among thousands, who is centered on what he reads, studies, teaches and practices. Esteemed Homero, continue thus. You are a very educated person, centered, and for the first time I have found someone who is not just looking to contend over apologetics, or fix dates to history, because those who have done so I have closed their mouths, being Christians who do not even know the meaning of the word Jesus Christ, you understand. Thanks for taking the time to answer my e-mails, for I think you are, as I am, a very busy person. Thanks for your advice. I will keep it in mind. Sincerely, Breyk.” Breyk Méndez
-This third e-mail from Breyk, history teacher and atheist, is in profound contrast with his first one, which was highly sarcastic, with a lot of “lols” and “ha, ha, ha, ha’s” in it.
-Buffalo, New York. Dec. 07, 2013. Ángel called, saying he was learning sound doctrine through studies available on editoriallapaz.org. He explained that he and his wife had left Pentecostalism and were meeting in their house. I gave him information on the church of Christ in Buffalo. He attended the very next Sunday, and called that afternoon, particularly with questions about baptism. Obviously, he had understood that Sunday morning that baptism was being taught as necessary for forgiveness of sins. Asking if that is what I teach, I replied in the affirmative. Then, he began to argue vehemently that baptism could not be a condition for pardon. No matter what Bible text or reason I presented, he continued with the same defiant attitude. There, after some time, our conversation ended, and I have not had any more contact with him to this date. Ángel’s mother lives in Carolina, Puerto Rico.
-Flores Costa Cuca, Colonia Calzada Xelaju, Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. Dec. 08, 2013. “How good and how delicious it is for brethren to dwell together in harmony! May God bless you brethren who administer this Web site. It is very beautiful. All the songs are a blessing. Before beginning each worship service, we transmit them over a loudspeaker which covers a considerable distance. Just a favor: I ask that you add the address of the congregation to your Web page. Thanks, and God bless you.” Bany Wosbeli Rodas García. Referer: "http://www.editoriallapaz.org/directorio_Guatemala.htm"
-The songs are the ones Antonio has recorded. More than 160, almost all in multiple voices. The Referer is to the Directory on editoriallapaz of churches of Christ in Guatemala. We are happy to comply with Bany’s request to add information about the congregation in Flores Costa Cuca to the Directory. That name is quite familiar to me since we sent much material there years ago.
-Place not identified. Dec. 09, 2013. “Many thanks to you for sharing the Word of God by means of the Web. I am very much interested in your studies on prophecies. Greetings and blessings on my behalf.” José Kenneth Pérez Chavarría.
-El Tigre, Venezuela. Dec. 13, 2013. In a telephone call from El Tigre, Luis Herrera stated he agreed with what is being taught on our Internet site, adding that he is considering beginning a congregation in his house. He is aware that a number of congregations already exist in Venezuela.
-Place not identified. Dec. 21, 2013. “Excellent material, with the images to motivate brethren to sing with more devotion and praise to our Lord. Many, many thanks!” Jorge Uyazan. Referer: "http://www.editoriallapaz.org/himnos_Majestad.htm"
-The Referer shows Jorge sent his e-mail from the Page for the beautiful hymn “Majesty,” –“Majestad” in Spanish-for which I selected appropriate graphics to go with the words. To date, 109 hymns have been thus prepared in PowerPoint.
-Daly City, California. Dec. 29, 2013. “Brother Homero, you sent me a list of studies too late! I had already devoured them. When I get in from work, the first thing I think about is turning on the computer to read the newest studies, and if there are not any I go to the study on Revelation.” Susana Pabón
-Yet this lady still has not been baptized, though she continues to attend a church of Christ, and that is because she has encountered problems in the congregation related to the conduct of leaders. This, according to several letters and e-mails she has sent. Once again, I kindly exhort her not to hold back because of such matters. Jumping ahead to the date of preparing the report for December, 2013, during January, 2014, I have put a considerable amount of new material on editoriallapaz.org! Wish I could add something new every day, but that is a real challenge.
-Place not identified. Dec. 30, 2013. “Many thanks for the subject. It is very, but very enriching. God bless you, brother.” Lolita Flores Izaguirre. Referer: "http://www.editoriallapaz.org/tabernaculo_terrenal_espiritual.htm"
-According to the Referer, Lolita writes these words in regard to “The Earthly Tabernacle versus the Spiritual Tabernacle,” with regard to which notes were provided in a previous e-mail.
-Costa Cuca, Quezaltenango, Guatemala. Dec. 30, 2013. “If it is posible, I will be sending you some videos we have edited, which we use in a TV program. Your work enables us to carry out things more easily. Thanks.” Bany Rodas
